About Us
Ms. Debbie’s Kids’ Corner is a black woman owned business rooted in empowering parents to take the driver's seat in their children's learning. Because we believe that learning starts early at home, we work tirelessly to connect families with high quality educational resources. Some of our services include publishing children’s books, personalized consultations for families centered around quick and easy high impact activities that will surely develop and reinforce foundational skills, and promoting culturally relevant/responsive children’s books by published authors that celebrate diversity and representation.
Deborah Napoleon, M. Ed
Founder Deborah Napoleon is a Florida transplant that has been in the DMV area since 2013. Her parents are from Haiti, and she celebrates her Haitian heritage. Deborah earned her bachelors in Psychology from Florida State University and holds two master's degrees in General Education and Special Education from Lesley University. Deborah finds great joy in teaching, writing, and supporting historically marginalized families. Deborah currently resides in Maryland with her husband and two lovely children. She wrote her first book and coloring book titled Dusty's Awesome Alphabet Sounds in June of 2020, and published her latest book Dusty and Daddy's Digraph Discoveries on September of 2021. Deborah aspires to write more children’s books where black children see themselves, while supporting and promoting fellow like-minded children’s book authors. Listed below are some of the experiences that has shaped her to be a well rounded educator and trusted resource in the field.
She is currently a Science of Reading sales consultant for a highly regarded language and literacy company.
She has written English Language Arts curriculum for Alexandria City Public Schools.
She was invited as a guest speaker in a "back to school" forum to help families anticipate what school would be like during the pandemic (hosted by Own Real Estate) for the 2020-2021 school year.
She was selected to attended the International Baccalaureate Conference in Boston, Massachusetts.
She is an Urban Teacher Alumni.
She has taught at an Expeditionary Learning school.
She holds an additional teaching certificate in English as a Second Language.
She was a mentor teacher in the 2020-2021 school year.
She has a YouTube channel called Mighty Minute with Ms. Debbie designed to help parents support early learning.
She has featured work in Howard University's virtual museum (Debunked Series)
She has consistently been ranked a highly effective educator in schools across the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area.
